Francis Bacon – The Job of the Artist is Always to Deepen the Mystery

“The Job of the Artist is Always to Deepen the Mystery.” – Francis Bacon

I have chosen this quote as I believe that some mystery in an art piece would make the work more interesting, it also tells how nowadays artwork doesn’t process a clear meaning and understanding upon first glance. Without comprehension, there is mystery.

Michelangelo – A Man Paints with his Brains and not with His Hands

Standard

“A Man Paints with his Brains and not with his Hands.” – Michelangelo

Michelangelo is a favourite of mine, this quote I believe shows the thoughts and effort one painter would have to put into his work around Michelangelo’s time, now however it has become particularly popular that artists would paint what they are feeling through abstract and distortion. In Michelangelo’s time, you are only considered a good artist on how skilled and accurate a piece based upon their artwork. Michelangelo was widely praised for his paintings in the Sistine chapel.

I have manipulated this quote below in an abstract painting style.
